New Honda CRF450L and CRF250RX announced

Honda has updated its CRF line-up for 2019 including two new machines. A road-going version of its flagship CRF450 will be available, alongside a cross-country version of the CRF250, the RX.

The CRF450L will use the updated CRF450R as a base, adding road-friendly features like LED lighting, a side stand and a bigger tank.

The street-legal bike will also boast longer service intervals than its motocrosser brother, with the first major service coming at 32,000km. Unfortunately, this comes at the expense of power and the new bike will make just 24.6bhp.

Aiming to be the “ideal closed course cross-country machine”, the CRX250RX adds an 18-inch front wheel, an 8.5-litre tank and softer suspension than the motocross version.

The existing CRF450RX and R models will receive improved top-end power and torque, and the R has shed almost a kilogram in weight over the previous model.

Bottom-end torque improvements for the CRF250 models come via revisions to the throttle body, cam, intake and exhaust profiles. All this should mean better drive out of low speed corners.
